Comic Relief began in Ghost Rider 40 as a series based in the west, on a rider gunman. It was later bought by Marvel and reinvented in the 70's.
The argument of the comic is a bit different than the movie. John Blaze's father, Barton Blaze, is the star of the Simpsons Crash Daredevil Cycle Show, also a motorcycle stunt show, and died doing a dangerous maneuver. Then John is adopted by Crash Simpson and quickly learns the tricks of the trade. When he discovers that Simpson suffers from a rare blood disease, recreated an ancient ritual and change your immortal soul for a miracle cure. But is sacrificed for nothing, because Simpson was found rejuvenated, try the most dangerous stunt of his race and dies.
